Coordinate the efforts of and encourage appropriate action by Section Committees in selecting recipients of established AWWA or Section Honors and Awards to include: Life Membership, Outstanding Service to AWWA, Community Relations and Advancement, Safety, Water Landmark, Heroism, Exceptional Community Service, and other AWWA or Section Honors and Awards. The Awards Committee shall itself select awardees for the Section Exceptional (Outstanding) Service Award, Excellence for in Plant Operations, Excellence in Distribution System Operation Awards, and Outstanding Operators.
Ascertain that awardees actually receive the awards, proceeds, or advantages to which they are entitled by virtue of having been selected as the recipient of established honors, awards, or other forms of recognition.
Recommend to the Section Board of Trustees, when appropriate, that new honors, awards, and other appropriate recognitions be established or that the basis for granting existing awards be revised.
When directed by the Board of Trustees, develop procedures and criteria for new or revised Section honors, awards, and recognitions, subject to the approval of the Section Board of Trustees, the General Policy Council, and the AWWA Board of Directors.
Annually select awardees for the Section Exceptional (Outstanding) Service Award if, in the opinion of the Committee, there is a candidate meeting the AWWA approved award criteria. The name of the awardee shall be provided to the Section Chair and Executive Director at least 60 days prior to the Annual Conference so that the appropriate plaque and citation can be prepared.
Annually select awardees for the Section Excellence in Plant Operation Award in accordance with the AWWA approved award criteria. Names of awardees shall be provided to the Section Chair and Executive Director at least 60 days prior to the Section Annual Conference so that appropriate certificates and citations can be prepared.
Annually select awardees for the Section Excellence in Distribution System Operation Award in accordance with the Section’s approved award criteria. Names of awardees shall be provided to the Section Chair and Executive Director at least 60 days prior to the Section Annual Conference so that appropriate certificates and citations can be prepared.
