Leeds Water Works Board Wins Best Tasting Water Award
From among seven water utilities that competed to be declared the best-tasting water in the two states of Alabama and Mississippi, Leeds Water Works Board of Leeds, Alabama won the Water Taste Test Competition held during the Alabama-Mississippi Section of the American Water Works Association Annual Conference (AL-MS AWWA). The 2nd annual water taste test was sponsored by the Section’s Young Professionals’ Committee.
Mr. Bill Morris, of the Leeds Water Works Board, accepted the Best Tasting Water Award. The recognition was announced during the AL-MS AWWA Annual Sponsor Luncheon on October 4th in Biloxi, Miss.
“We congratulate the hard-working personnel of Leeds Water Works, and their community, on receiving this honor,” said Hunter Arnold, outgoing Chair of the Alabama-Mississippi Section of the American Water Works Association.
During the competition, water samples were judged in the categories of taste, clarity and smell. Judges included Danny Hutcherson, of the Hach Company; Jim Chaffee, PE, Vice President of the AWWA; and Dr. Andrew Whelton, of the University of South Alabama.
The Leeds Water Works Board is eligible to compete nationally in the water test taste held during the American Water Works Association 2012 Conference in Dallas, TX in June.
